Tesco customers fume as contactless payments down at UK supermarkets

TESCO customers are fuming as contactless payments are down at UK supermarkets.

All types of the supposedly easier way of paying – including Apple Pay – are not currently working.

Reports suggest other supermarket giants, such as Sainsbury’s and Aldi, are also experiencing the same outage.

One Tesco customer raged: “No contactless payment in Tesco, utter garbage first world problem. I JUST WANT MY CHEESE.”

Another said: “Just witnessed everyone walk out of Tesco at once and go to a cash machine because their card machines are down. Help me.”

A third tweeted: “Obviously on the ONE day I forget my purse and have an urgent thing to buy… the ENTIRE Tesco contactless system goes down so I can’t use my Apple Pay.”

Tesco has since apologised for the inconvenience.

A Tesco Spokesperson told The Sun: “We have now fixed a technical issue that briefly impacted some of our stores earlier this evening.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience.”
