FOOTBALL valuation website TransferMarkt have released the players that have lost the most transfer value over the course of the last season.
A mix of age, injuries, and loss of form has seen the top ten list lose a stunning amount of value – with one former Manchester United star seeing his valuation drop a whopping 69% in just a YEAR.
Transfermarkt’s statistics
Sadio Mane
Mane, 31, was one of the jewels in Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool team before departing for Bayern Munich last summer in a £27.5million deal.
The Senegalese international was seen as Robert Lewandowski‘s replacement but his time in Bavaria has been miserable.
He suffered an injury on the eve of the World Cup and struggled to earn his place in the side back.
His torrid time was encapsulated by a bust-up with winger Leroy Sane which left Sane with a black eye.
His new transfer value of £21.5million is a huge 39% decrease on his previous £60.5m value.

Wilfred Ndidi
Ndidi, 26, came off the back of an impressive 2021-22 season which saw him establish himself as one of the Premier League‘s top defensive midfielders.
His previous £41.5m value reflected how Europe’s biggest clubs were sniffing around him.
But after an unimpressive season in a campaign that saw the Foxes go down, Ndidi’s value has taken a battering – with the Leicester man now valued at £21.5m.

Paul Pogba
Pogba became the world’s most expensive player when he transferred from Juventus to Manchester United for £89m in 2016.
But the midfielder never really justified his price tag at Old Trafford and left on a free transfer back to Juventus when his contract expired last summer.
Pogba played just 10 times for the Bianconeri last season after suffering a knee injury – and that’s seen his value drop to a measly £13m.
His value last year was £41m, meaning his injury-hit season reflects a 69% decrease.

Jadon Sancho
Sancho arrived as United’s marquee signing two years ago in summer 2021… Until the return of Cristiano Ronaldo overshadowed things.
The winger has struggled to justify his £73m fee and has been linked with a move away this summer.
His value has dropped to £39m from a previous value of £65m last summer.

Romelu Lukaku
Lukaku’s career was drifting last summer after an unsuccessful return to Chelsea.
His loan to Inter has gone some way to repairing things, despite an unimpressive first half of the season.
But his value is still on the wane amid rumoured interest from Saudi Arabia – falling from £60m to £34m.

Youri Tielemans
Tielemans completed a free transfer to Aston Villa this weekend but the Villains will find a player declining in value following his part in Leicester City‘s relegation.
His value has fallen from £47.5m to £21.5m in a 35% decrease from last year.

Mohamed Salah
It may not have been a stellar 2022-23 season for Salah but a return of 19 goals and 12 assists in 38 Premier League games certainly wasn’t bad.
However, given he is now 31 his value is in decline.
Transfermarkt give him a new value of £36m, down from £64.5m last summer.

Son Heung-min
Son endured his worst season since his debut year at Spurs – despite coming off the back of winning the 2021-22 golden boot.
His return of ten goals and six assists combined with turning 30 has seen his value fall from £64.5m to £43m

Andrew Robertson
Robertson’s runs from full back saw him establish himself as one of the best left-backs in the world under Klopp.
But Liverpool’s defence struggled last season, and as such Robertson’s value has dropped from £49m to £34m

Federico Chiesa
Chiesa has struggled greatly with injury since starring for Italy at Euro 2020.
Juventus confirmed that he has been referred to a knee specialist in March as he continues to battle back to fitness.
His new value of £34m is a 39% drop from his previous £55.5m value.
