Ten Hag furious as top transfer target set to U-turn and join rivals despite ‘more than a promise’ he’d come to Man Utd

ERIK TEN HAG is reportedly fuming after Napoli star Kim Min-jae reversed his decision to join Manchester United.

The Red Devils are looking to improve their defence this summer amid rumours captain Harry Maguire could leave.

Kim Min-jae has reportedly turned his back on Manchester United by agreeing a deal with Bayern MunichGetty

Ten Hag identified Kim as a key target after the centre-back played a crucial role in Napoli’s Serie A title success.

Reports claimed United had struck a deal to sign the South Korean, who was believed to have “accepted” the club’s contract offer of £9million-per-year, which equals around £175,000-per-week.

It is also claimed Kim had made “more than a promise” to Ten Hag to join, so his U-turn has left the Red Devils boss frustrated, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Bayern Munich appear to have hijacked United’s move for Kim with the defender expected to sign a five-year deal with the German giants.

Kim, 26, has a £42.6million release clause in his Napoli contract which becomes active on July 1, which is likely when Bayern will complete the deal.

Ten Hag has been left frustrated by United’s lack of transfer activity, which has arisen in part due to the uncertainty surrounding the club’s ownership.

The takeover process is still ongoing despite claims last week the Qatari group was set to complete a deal, and the Glazers have been unwilling to spend money on players given they are about to relinquish control of the club.

As a result United could miss out on the likes of Declan Rice and Mason Mount, who have both been linked this summer.

United had an initial bid worth £40million for Mount rejected by Chelsea, with the Blues seeking around £70m for the England star.

The 24-year-old is entering the final year of his deal and his boyhood club risk losing him on a free in 12 months time, which leaves United hopeful of reaching an agreement.
