Taylor Swift named second-richest self-made woman in music

Taylor Swift has been named the second richest self-made woman in music by Forbes magazine, which today released its America’s Self-Made Women list.

Swift’s net worth is estimated to sit at $USD740 million (approx. $1.1 billion), jumping by over $USD170 million ($258 million) in just one year.

The Karma singer, 33, may have surpassed Madonna and Beyoncé on the list, but falls short of taking the lead spot, which is occupied by Rihanna with a net worth of $USD1.4 billion ($2.1 billion).

Swift ranks at 34th on the full list, sitting among wealthy women such as Oprah Winfrey and American business-woman Diane Hendricks, who takes the top spot in the ranking with a net worth of $USD15 billion ($23 billion).

However, Swift’s net worth can only grow from here as she continues her Eras Tour.

The singer has gained mass attention in recent months, headlining both concert venues and media outlets.

Between the attention brought to her by her popular tour, defending fans from security guards, breaking Ticketmaster and the controversy over her rumoured relationship with The 1975 frontman Matt Healy, the star is thriving financially.

Despite being the centre of overlapping news, the star recently announced to fans she’s “never been this happy”.

Swift made a brief personal speech to fans prior to performing Midnights track “Question…?” outside of Boston last month.

Speaking to a huge crowd, she confessed, “I’ve just never been this happy in my life in all aspects of my life ever, and I just want to thank you for being a part of that.”

“It’s not just a tour, I just sort of feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense. So I thought I’d play this song, which brings me a lot of happy memories.”
