Taylor Swift fans camp for five months outside stadium in Buenos Aires ahead of the Eras Tour

It’s official, Taylor Swift mania has reached peak levels.

Some devoted fans of the American singer in Argentina have camped out for more than five months, since June, in a bid to secure the best seats in the house for when she brings her sold-out Eras Tour to Buenos Aires next week.

One fan-turned-camper told Pitchfork this week about the organisation of the makeshift camp outside of the Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium where Swift will play, saying they have general admission tickets and are operating on a system of taking turns to be front of the queue to get in.

“We’ve been in this tent for five months,” one Swiftie told the publication.

“I usually tell my dad I’m at a park drinking mate with somebody, or visiting a friend of mine who lives near the stadium,” they added.

The publication reports there are about 60 people per tent and they have a spreadsheet keeping track of everyone involved. The more nights you camp, the closer you get to the front of the queue.

But you don’t have to be in the tent for 24 hours a day and can still head to other commitments.

“People are very upset with us camping for some reason,” a camper and fan called Carmen told Pitchfork.

“Sometimes you’re lying down, and you hear someone scream ‘Go to work!’ at 2 a.m. It’s like, ‘You’re the one who’s outside of a tent shouting at 2 in the morning—aren’t you supposed to work tomorrow? Does it really affect you that much? I’m the one who’s sleeping on the street, not you.”

From one extreme to the other, American comedian Nikki Glaser last week revealed on The Kelly Clarkson Show that she has been to Swift’s tour a total of nine times and has splashed out a whopping $US25,000 (approx. $39,000) on tickets.

The FBoy Island host, 39, revealed she skipped freezing her eggs to see Swift instead.

“Like, when I’m not on tour, I go to her tour. It just fills my life up with so much joy. I’m in my late 30s. I just feel like, I don’t have kids, and I did the math and if I had kids, I’d be paying for dance camp and swim lessons,” Glaser explained.

Speaking about deciding to spend the money on the tickets rather than freezing her eggs, she said: “I should just use all this money. I was going to freeze my eggs in January and that’s about how much it costs.”

Just a month ago, Swift announced she was bringing her sold-out Eras Tour to cinemas worldwide, including in Australia. Showings started on October 13.

“The tour isn’t the only thing we’re taking worldwide,” Swift wrote on Instagram.

In its opening weekend in North America alone, her concert film made between $US95million and $US97million (approximately $AUD150million).

Previously, Aussie Swifties were set to miss out on the theatre experience as it was only going to screen in North America.

Plenty of Aussie Swifties were left heartbroken in June when tickets to the Eras Tour Down Under completely sold out in a matter of hours.

A reported four million people were in the virtual queue to nab tickets and half a billion bots were kicked out of the queue by Ticketek.

Even with two pre-sales, a general sale, and added tour dates, millions of Australian Swift fans missed out on a chance to attend one of Swift’s concerts.

Swift is set to tour Australia in February.
