The classic motor is a limited edition end-of-line Capri, finished in sporty Brooklands Green paintwork.

Under the bonnet is a 160bhp 2.8-litre V6 petrol engine, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.

The car received a full recommissioning between 2020 and 2021 by Ric Wood Motorsport.

According to online auction house Collecting Cars, the Capri was first registered in October 1987 and has been with its fourth owner in Ascot, Berkshire, for eight years.

Collecting Cars commented: “It features a limited-slip differential, a full leather Recaro interior, and 15-inch versions of the seven-spoke wheels fitted to the Capri Injection Special.

“The car is finished in Brooklands Green, complemented by red and white pinstripes and ‘Capri 280’ lettering.

“Inside, it has a sunroof, a Quartz analogue clock, and a Ford cassette stereo, and the tyres are Continental PremiumContact 5 items and original parts have been kept by the seller, including the radiator.”

The car also includes the original owner’s manuals and service book, a boot-mounted spare wheel, a second spare wheel, five spare tyres, various spare mechanical parts, a dynamometer reading, and a collection of maintenance documents.

The rare Brooklands edition is set to fetch a big sum when the auction ends on 7th June – the highest bid at the time of writing being £42,250.

This comes after a rare “immaculate” Ford Sierra left in a garage for 20 years was up for auction after a £9,000 revamp.

Plus, a classic Ford Anglia similar to the flying car in Harry Potter was sold for an eye-watering £11,500.
