Steven Gerrard reveals shock new career as ‘UBER DRIVER’ after rejecting club and international management offers

STEVEN GERRARD is loving life as an “uber driver” to his kids – after rejecting a managerial comeback at club and international level.

The Liverpool legend is waiting for the fire and fight to return” before taking a new boss job following his sacking by Aston Villa last October.

Ex-Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has opted for family life since being sacked as Aston Villa boss in OctoberRex

So far the former England skipper has been most strongly linked with managing Poland.

More recently Turkish giants Trabzonspor and old club Rangers are thought to have come on the radar.

But Gerrard, 42, told the League Managers Association Magazine he’s waiting “patiently” for the “right” opportunity.

Villa have risen from the lower reaches of the Premier League to sixth under his successor Unai Emery.

And the 114-cap ex-midfielder insists he will learn from his “mistakes”.

He said: “You have to reset, wait and be patient for the fire and fight to return.

“I’ve been offered opportunities to manage at club and international level since I left Villa, including an exciting opportunity in an overseas league.

“But none have been right for me at this time.

“In the meantime, I’m enjoying being an Uber driver for my girls and my little boy.”

Poland opted for former Portugal boss Fernando Santos in January.

That’s left Gerrard with more breathing space than he might have imagined when he was axed seven months ago.

And he’s determined to return as a much-improved manager.

He said of his spell with Villa: “They gave me an opportunity in the Premier League and it was a successful experience initially because we achieved the remit of guiding the team away from the bottom of the table to safety.

“I’ve had time to analyse and reflect thoroughly on the challenges of our second season.

“In football, you have to learn from your mistakes and take strength from your successes.”
