South Korean Netflix star and model Jung Chae-yul dies aged 26

South Korean actress and model Jung Chae-yul, best known for her work in Netflix‘s comedy series Zombie Detective, has died. She was 26.

Jung’s death was confirmed by her management overnight on Tuesday in a statement.

”We are here to deliver heartbreaking news. Actress Chae-yul has left us,” Jung’s management wrote on Instagram.

“Her funeral will be held privately in accordance to the wishes of her family, who must be in greater sadness than anyone else,” the statement continued.

“We hope you pray for the deceased so Chae-yul, who was also sincere in her acting, may rest in peace.”

No cause of death has been confirmed at this time.

Fans rushed to Jung’s social media pages to pay tribute to the star, with one writing on a recent Instagram photo: ”You became a star in the sky at such a young age.. Hope you’re comfortable there.”

“Such a heart-breaking news, may she rest in peace,” another fan wrote.

One fan said: “I wish you all the best there and only good memories. I’m so sad. I don’t know how to feel.”

In a statement from the CEO of her agency, Lee Soo Haeng, Jung was described as incredibly hard-working.

“She was a deep-hearted and cool friend. In my opinion, it is hard to describe in words how amazing she was as an actress,” he said.

Jung debuted as a television star in 2016’s Devil’s Runway and made her big screen debut in the 2016 film Deep.

The actress and model was next set to star in the upcoming Korean drama Wedding Impossible, which is currently in production.

In the wake of her death, the series has suspended filming for at least one day.
