South Korean actress Park Soo Ryun dies aged 29 after fall down stairs

South Korean actress, Park Soo Ryun, has died at the age of 29 after taking a fall.

According to local media the actress fell down some stairs at a property on a visit to Jeju Island where she was about to a perform hours later.

She was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment but despite attempts from medics to revive the star, was reportedly pronounced brain dead.

Her family decided to donate her organs, explaining the comfort they’d feel knowing that her heart would go to someone who needed it.

“Only her brain is unconscious, and her heart is still beating,” Park’s mother told Soompi on Monday.

“There must be someone who desperately needs [organs],” she continued. “As her mother and father, we will be able to live comforted [by the thought that her heart] has gone to someone and is beating.”

Soo Ryun has since passed away, a procession taking place yesterday at Suwon Hospital of Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center in Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi-do.

The actress was best known for her role the Disney+ K-drama Snowdrop as well as a string of musicals including The Days We Loved and Siddhartha.

Despite already having a name for herself in musical theatre, the star made her TV debut in 2021, playing the role of a university student in the Snowdrop series.

This is not a first tragic loss for the Snowdrop cast who also lost another star, Kim Mi-soo, who passed away suddenly in January 2022.

The actress was 29 at the time and no cause of death was revealed, however her agency released a statement at the time, stunning fans with the news.

“Kim suddenly left us on January 5,” the agency announced.

“The bereaved are deep in their sorrow at the sudden sadness. Please refrain from reporting false rumours or speculation so that the family can mourn in peace.”
