SKY viewers have been urged to take a closer look at their TV boxes to make sure they’re not missing out on free upgrades.
There comes a time when every bit of telly hardware meets its final days, but Sky offers customers new and improved boxes on the house.
First you’ll need to work out what model code your box has to see if you’re eligible for an upgrade
Newer boxes mean customers can watch TV in higher definition, and maybe even unlock some new features.
If you have box model with the code 32B0xx attached to it, Sky is currently offering to swap it out for a newer one for free.
If you do so, Sky will give you access to Ultra HD HDR, so you can watch the telly in crystal clear definition with an HDR capable box.
But first you’ll need to work out what model code your box has to see if you’re eligible – so, here’s how:
It’s easy to check, but it varies depending on which subscription you have: Sky Glass or Sky Stream, Sky Q and Sky+.
For Sky Glass or Sky Stream puck owners, simply follow these steps:
Press Home on your Sky remote.Scroll down to the bottom of the Home screen and select Settings.Select System management, then System info.
For Sky Q owners, follow these:
Press Home on your Sky Q remote.Select Settings followed by System info.Check your Hardware version and use the table below to see which type of Sky Q box you have.
For Sky+ owners, check these out:
Press services on your Sky remote.Select settings then highlight Details (which will then change to System Details).Check your Model Number and use the table below to see which type of Sky box you have.
From here you’ll also be able to check if your box has the right software for it, which you can run by Sky’s criteria on its website.
Next, you want to access the Shop in your ‘My account’ tab on your Sky Q box or Sky.com to see which upgrades are available to you.
Not only that, but you’ll be able to catch a glimpse at some of Sky’s latest perks (like how you can get Sky telly and Netflix for free).
