Sky TV customers can receive another free upgrade – but there’s a catch

SKY GO has finally launched its app for XBox owners – although some are still waiting.

The new app will replace TV from Sky on an XBox, just as it did for PlayStation 5 just weeks ago.

Those with an XBox S, XBox X and XBox One will be able to download Sky Go.

But just 10% of Sky customers with an XBox will be able to access the app this week.

Sky is rolling out the app in phases.

By Tuesday (April 11) next week, 40% of customers are hoped to be able to download the app.

Then by Thursday (April 13), the app should be readily available to all customers – provided the rollout runs smoothly.

“A major overhaul has been completed over several months to bring Sky Go to XBox, which introduces the Sky Q menu and features such as Continue Watching, Auto-play and subtitles for the first time to consoles,” Sky wrote in a help forum on its website.

These features will bring Sky viewing in line with Netflix, Prime TV and Disney+.

Sky Go lets users watch free-to-air channels, such as Channel 4 and ITV, alongside other subscription-based content like films and sports.

The app is still under development for PC and MAC Desktops.

To check if you’re one of the lucky few with early bird access, simply head to your XBox’s store section and select the option titled either Browse or Search.

Then search for Sky or Sky Go, and if the Sky Go app appears – then you’re in luck.

The next step is to hit Download and then Confirm Purchase when the option appears.

Don’t worry about money leaving your account.

The app is free and the Confirm Purchase button is just a formality.

It should also be noted that since it is a brand new app, customers will have to sign back into their accounts using their Sky ID.
