SCIENTISTS have come up with a skin patch to boost the sex drive of menopausal women.
It increases levels of testosterone, which is vital for a woman’s libido but wanes during the change.
Scientists have devised a skin patch that boosts sex drive in menopausal women
Patches are available for female sex hormones but not for the male hormone testosterone.
Trials of the new Medherant patch will start in the UK this year.
Prof David Haddleton, of Warwick University, said: “This is a very exciting development.”
The Sun’s Fabulous Menopause Matters campaign has been pushing for better access to HRT.
Campaigners including Davina McCall have championed the hormone as a treatment for a flagging libido and brain fog.
The new patch is intended to address this gap in menopause products, providing treatment specifically for women that can be made widely available.
Professor Haddleton added: “The work we’re doing is aimed at a problem that can drastically affect women’s everyday lives and jobs.”
