Shop you’d never think of that’s cheaper than Greggs for sausage rolls – and they cost just 21p each

THERE’S a high street shop you’d never think of that sells the beloved sausage roll for cheaper than Greggs.

Discount retailer Home Bargains has more than 60 bakeries across stores in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

They began opening earlier this year and sell a selection of sweet and savoury treats.

These include baguettes, cheese twists, scotch rolls, cookies and croissants.

But what you might not have thought of is that it sells sausage rolls and they’re actually cheaper than Greggs.

Fans of the bakery giant will only need to spend £1.09 for five sausage rolls at Home Bargains.

That works out at 21p a roll.

In comparison, just one Greggs sausage roll now comes to £1.20 as the bakery chain has increased the cost of its products recently.

It means you’d be saving 99p and also getting five times the amount of food by shopping at Home Bargains.

For five sausage rolls at Greggs, you could pay £6 – that’s a £4.91 saving at Home Bargains.

Of course, keep in mind the taste may not be exactly the same.

Prices will also vary from store to store so do shop around for the best deal.

There’s also a Greggs outlet that can help shoppers save money.

For example, one savvy shopper managed to find a 12-pack of doughnuts for just £2.90.

Other bargains included a buy one get one free offer on 60p yum yums and a box of four chocolate-covered doughnuts for £1 – or 25p each.

If you don’t have a Home Bargains with a bakery near you then you can try Cooplands.

It was founded as a single shop in Scarborough, Yorkshire, in 1885 and has now expanded to become the UK’s second-largest bakery chain behind Greggs.

A sausage roll from Cooplands will cost you 65p – so cheaper than Greggs but more expensive than Home Bargains.

It’s always worth shopping around to see if you can find your fave treat elsewhere for cheaper.
