Shamed Boris Becker reveals he broke down in tears in prison cell watching Wimbledon last summer

SHAMED tennis star Boris Becker says he broke down in his prison cell while watching his former protégé Novak Djokovic win at Wimbledon last summer.

Becker — who coached the Serbian until 2016 — also said he was relieved to be out after serving six months for concealing assets and finally felt at peace with himself.

The 55-year-old was speaking at the Berlin Film Festival as a new documentary, Boom! Boom! The World vs Boris Becker, is set for release on Apple TV+.

He said: “While I was inside, Novak supported me and my family.

“I started crying when he started winning.

“I’m proud that probably the best player of all time is part of this story.

“It feels great to be free and at peace with myself.

“We all have to improve ourselves. Whether that is possible is another question.

“I see the world with a different perception. I’m able to rebuild my life and I hope the film shows a facet of my life that is not so known.”

However, his estranged wife, Dutch model Sharlely Kerssenberg, 46, has branded Becker “a devil”, claiming he has stopped paying child support for their 13-year-old son, Amadeus.

She said, “Prison didn’t make Boris a better person.

“Boris lives in a world where everything revolves around Boris Becker.”

Kerssenberg has filed for divorce from the tennis ace.
