Serge Aurier in line for shock new deal at Nottingham Forest after ex-Tottenham star impresses boss Steve Cooper

SERGE AURIER is hoping for a new contract at  Nottingham Forest.

The ex-Spurs defender joined Forest as a free agent earlier this season on a one-year deal.

Right-back Serge Aurier has impressed Forest chief Steve Cooper with his experience, attitude and performancesRex

But Aurier, 30, says talks are under way about extending his stay — after impressing at the City Ground.

Forest boss Steve Cooper said: “We’re very happy with Serge and enjoy working with him.

“He’s brought what you’d hope a player of that experience would bring — and he’s  a big part of our culture.

“Serge seems happy as well, I speak to the players a lot and it’s all been positive conversations.”

In contrast, right-back remains a problem position for his old club Spurs.

Tottenham have struggled to find a fitting successor to Kyle Walker, who joined Manchester City for £50million in 2017.

Their hunt prompted the January loan arrival of Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.

Meanwhile, Forest are desperate to unload ex-Republic of Ireland midfielder Harry Arter.

he played just 15 times in loan spells for Charlton and Notts County last season.

And returning to Forest this summer doubled his salary under the terms of his initial move.

But Cooper had no interest in bringing him back into the fold.
