Scotland ace Jack Hendry set to join Steven Gerrard in stunning Saudi move

SCOTLAND ace Jack Hendry is set for a stunning move to join up with Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia, according to reports.

The Brugge defender has been linked with a transfer to Hamburg after spending last season on loan at Cremonese.

Now it looks as if the one-time Celtic player will be heading even further afield.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Saudi club Al Ettifaq are keen to land Hendry on a permanent deal.

He’s expected to have a medical and then join later this week.

And his new team-mates are expected to be Liverpool and England ace Jordan Henderson and former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele.

Hendry is under contract with Brugge until 2025 after they paid £3.5 million for the 28-year-old two years ago.

But it looks like that won’t deter the Saudis who are willing to continue to bankroll Gerrard to build the squad that he wants.

Meanwhile, Hendry’s former team-mate Kieran Tierney admits his Arsenal future is still up in the air – as Celtic wait in the wings.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers refused to rule out a Parkhead loan return for the Scotland star – after SunSport revealed it could be a goer.

Tierney, 26, has also been linked with ambitious Newcastle United after falling down the Gunners’ pecking order since his £25million move in 2019.

Asked about his future after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Manchester United, he said: “It’s not really up to me.

“I’ve not had any discussions with the manager and I’m just working hard every day and trying to do as well as I can.

“I didn’t miss a single game because of injury last season.

“I was available for every match and always ready when called upon.

“I think everyone would agree that I never give less than 100 percent, whether I’m playing or not.

“You can’t play every single game every year and I don’t expect that.

“But I still made a lot of appearances last season coming off the bench, whether that was to see games out or help to get a goal, and I did all I could to help.”
