Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year, meaning there is an extra bank holiday on the following Tuesday, December 27.
These are the opening hours for Sainsbury’s over the UK mourning period
This is on top of the usual Boxing Day bank holiday on Monday, December 26.

Is Sainsbury’s open over the Christmas Bank Holiday?
All Sainsbury’s supermarkets will be closed on Christmas Day.
The majority will then be open on Boxing Day between 10am and 5pm.
On December 27, most are open from 8am to 8pm, but opening hours will vary by store.
So it is best to check the store locator on the website to avoid a wasted trip.
For the rest of the week, on December 28, 29 and 30, most stores will trade normal hours.
On New Year’s Eve, the majority of Sainsbury’s shops will be open from 7am to 7pm and convenience stores will be closing at 9pm.
The next day (January 1), most supermarkets will be open between 10am and 4pm.
Convenience stores will be trading between 9am and 9pm.
