SAG Awards: Best and Wackiest Red Carpet Looks of All Time

Having fun with fashion! Unlike some other ceremonies, the SAG Awards give celebs a chance to show off their style and pack a little extra punch with their outfits.

Because while the show never fails to serve up glitz and glamour, it’s garnered quite the reputation for out-of-the-box outfits. Be it jumpsuits, sequins or daring dresses, there’s never a shortage of buzz-worthy ensembles.

And while some risks pay off, others have historically missed the mark. So in honor of the 2022 SAG Awards airing on Sunday, February 27, Us Weekly’s Stylish has decided to take a look back at some of the most memorable looks in the event’s history.

Perhaps one of the show’s most iconic outfits of all time came to pass in 2010, when Kate Hudson absolutely slayed in a backless Emilio Pucci gown that was seemingly a page of Andy Anderson’s playbook. With a low hem that showed off her toned physique and delicate silver detailing, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress topped best dressed lists across the board.

White hot moments are actually a pretty common occurrence at the SAGs. In 2011, a then-pregnant Natalie Portman hit the red carpet in a stunning white Azzaro dress that emphasized her growing bump. The Thor actress looked absolutely gorgeous — and proved that maternity style doesn’t have to be boring. Her glam was just as good, as the Dior ambassador looked elegant in an intricate updo and soft smoky makeup.

Unfortunately not all red carpet moments are as amazing as those two. In 2014, Meryl Streep made headlines in a black dress designed by Stella McCartney. Even though the star can do no wrong in our eyes, many thought the gown looked like a skirt that was pulled up above her shoulders.

It’s not always the actual outfit that makes for a fashion mis-step though. Sometimes accessories are to blame for a wacky look. For example Clair Danes’ floral-print Louis Vuitton gown circa 2011 was simply stunning. But the black belt she decided to add to the outfit detracted from fabulous pattern.

To see all these looks and more of the jaw-dropping fashion from SAG Awards show’s past, keep scrolling. Because from Julianne Moore’s gorgeous gown in 2013 to Sandra Oh’s overwhelming dress in 2008, we’re rounding up the best — and wackiest — looks of all time.
