Safaree Samuels Claps Back At People Dissing His Rap Skills In Throwback Freestyle

Safaree Samuels is sick of critics attacking his rap skills. Samuels addressed the topic on Monday after a throwback freestyle picked up traction on social media.

“Ppl love hating on my cuz my name is clickbait and searched a lot, but I been nice,” Safaree wrote in an Instagram caption. “2023 I’m sonnin ’em.”

The throwback freestyle that triggered Safaree’s clapback hails from a November 2017 episode of The Breakfast Club. Throughout the episode, Charlamagne Tha God made playful jokes about Safaree’s music. Eventually, they get to a point where Safaree calls himself “one of the best rappers in the world” before spewing his stats. Charlamagne then challenged him to spit a 16-bar. When the freestyle was over, Charlamagne hit him with: “that wasn’t it.”

“Nah, that ain’t it y’all. No, that wasn’t it. Nope, that wasn’t it y’all. You was too aggressive man. Too hype, slow down.”

Safaree Shares His Freestyle On Sway In The Morning

Now, the freestyle and Charlamagne’s response go viral every couple of years. And, clearly, Samuels is TYAD. In his clapback post, he included a clip of a 2015 freestyle from an appearance on Sway In The Morning.

Though Sway told him to “bring a verse,” the artist told him he wanted to do it off the top. He rapped for a couple of minutes before the start of the clip he shared on social media.

“Lemme guess ya never saw this tho?!?!?!? N****s keep running wit that Charlamagne clip cuz it was funny, his job is to shut you down n make sh*t entertaining. That clip wouldn’t have been viral if he said it was hot. Go suck uno madda! Y’all pick and choose. 2023 we cumming HARD @realsway I love you and you’ve always been an amazing person to this culture.”

Meanwhile, folks on Twitter took the opportunity to comment on BOTH freestyles. And the Twitter and IG reactions are all over the place, from 2017 Charlamagne energy to debates on his contributions to Nicki Minaj’s early music, his reality TV career, and even a likkle compliments in between.
