Ryan Reynolds visits UK PM’s house during Deadpool 3 production break

As the writer and actor strikes continue in Hollywood, production on Deadpool 3 at London‘s Pinewood Studios has also been paused.

So with a bit of spare time on his hands, Ryan Reynolds visited 10 Downing Street, the official residence and office of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, for a cup of tea on Wednesday.

While many fans would love to see the Canadian actor go into politics, he was there for a venture of a different kind.

The actor shared two photos from the outing on social media and suggested he was hoping to get the PM to incentivise production companies to make more TV shows and movies in Wales, where Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney co-own football team Wrexham FC.

The star joked McElhenney – who is currently in San Diego, California, with the football team – missed the meeting because he was “having a word” with Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, after Red Dragons player Paul Mullin was injured in a pre-season friendly in the US overnight.

“With Deadpool paused, we visited 10 Downing to discuss the excellence of UK film crews and @maximumeffort,” he said in the caption.

“Aside from shooting back home, the UK is my favourite place to make a movie. Hoping to see even more film work head to Wales.

“Rob would have joined but he’s currently having a word with Man Utd’s youth team goalie.”

The second image shows the actor standing in front of the building’s famous black door, alongside three other men, including James Toney, who works for Reynolds’ production company Maximum Effort.

The production company just announced it’s latest project will be a reboot of sorts of the ’80s cult classic sitcom ALF.

The project will premiere on July 29 on the actor’s Maximum Effort Channel as the channel’s first series of Maximum Moments.

It’s been labelled a collaborative effort with ALF creator Paul Fusco and Shout! Studios and will feature old ALF re-runs alongside segments and sponsored shorts promoting some of Reynolds’ other brands and investments such as Mint Mobile, Fubo, Hims, MNTN and Ring.

“At Maximum Effort, we love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining,” Reynolds said.

“Besides my irrational love of ALF growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life.”
