Ryan Moore crashes markets as he’s confirmed for huge ride on Gordon Elliott-trained runner in the Cesarewitch

THE booking of Ryan Moore on Cesarewitch fancy Pied Piper has seen a huge market crash.

Having been 7-1 with Coral prior to the booking of Moore, Pied Piper is now 9-2 favourite for Irish trainer Gordon Elliott.

The Cesarewitch takes place at Newmarket on October 14 and is one of the biggest betting races of the year.

A full field of 34 usually takes their place at the 2m2f start and it’s fiercely competitive.

Four of the last five running have gone back to Ireland and Moore’s presence on Gordon Elliott’s runner has sent punters into a frenzy.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “Pied Piper was already clear favourite for the Club Godolphin Cesarewitch before the booking of Ryan Moore was announced, but the news has unsurprisingly been well-received by punters.

“The Grade 2-winning hurdler has been backed into 9-2 market leader following the latest entry stage for the race.”

Pied Piper is an excellent dual purpose horse and dead-heated across the line in the 2022 Anniversary Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree.

Punters bemoaned a ‘terrible’ decision that day as he was demoted to second and they were left frustrated again when he finished second in this year’s County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

But can he finally get his day in the sun? Punters will be praying luck is on his side this time.

He was a beaten favourite on Flat return at Killarney in August, but that will have set him up perfectly for this.

A mark of 96 should be thoroughly attainable based on his hurdling rating of 157 and he’s a fascinating contender.
