Gravenberch is the fourth midfielder to sign for Liverpool this summer.

Alexis Mac Allister was snapped up from Brighton for £55m, while Dominik Szoboszlai cost £60m from RB Leipzig.

Liverpool also splashed £19m on Stuttgart holder Wataru Endo.

And Gravenberch is now set to compete with his fellow new transfer arrivals for a spot in Jurgen Klopp’s high-octane XI.

The 21-year-old joins just one year after leaving Ajax in a £15m deal for Bayern Munich.

Gravenberch only featured 33 times for the Germans, with most of those appearances coming from the bench.

However, he has decided to continue wearing the No38 shirt he donned in Bavaria.

Dutch ace Gravenberch first slipped on the jersey after breaking into Ajax’s senior squad in 2019.

He eventually moved to the No8 top in Holland before reverting to 38 at Bayern.

And it’s the first time the number has been occupied at Anfield in five years, with Jon Flanagan the last Red to wear it.

Gravenberch could be introduced to the Anfield crowd during Sunday’s home game against Aston Villa.

But his signing coming too late to make the matchday squad.

In the meantime, Liverpool’s latest signing can’t wait to get stuck in on Merseyside.

And he admits he will realise a dream when he hears fans belt out ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

Gravenberch said: “I’m very happy. Very happy that the deal is done and I’m finally here. If you see it from the outside, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“Also the fans, the stadium, I think everything from the outside is top. So that’s why [it was the right club]. I’m really looking forward to [Anfield] and I can’t wait to hear ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.

“Now we start fresh again, a new start, and I’m going to give my all for this club. [I want to] win prizes. To win prizes, to play a lot and show them who we are and who I am.”
