Roy Keane launches scathing attack on Man Utd star as legend tells flop to ‘drop down a few leagues’

ROY KEANE has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United flop Anthony Martial.

That’s after telling the flop to “drop down a few leagues.”

Martial, 27, put in another anonymous performance as United were beaten 1-0 by Newcastle on Saturday.

The Red Devils were lucky to escape St James’ Park with just the one goal.

And the spotlight was once again shined on Martial, who is out of contract next summer.

The Frenchman joined for a potential £58million from Monaco in 2015.

But he has netted just 63 league goals in that time.

And Erik ten Hag must now decide whether to hand Martial a new deal or cut him loose on a free transfer next summer.

One man who believes United must ditch the striker is Keane.

The legendary former Red Devils captain reckons Martial is not pulling his weight.

And Keane believes the flop would be better off playing in the Championship for his next move.

The Irishman said on Sky Sports: “We mention Martial, the first few touches he got last night…

“We forgive Martial the fact he scores a goal every 14 years, I forgive a player for that.

“But let me tell you when at Newcastle under pressure, we get that ball into you, you better get hold of that ball to get us up the pitch and a bit of breathing space.

“He’s touching balls off and gives the ball away cheaply. You may as well go down the leagues.

“Man United have been trying to get rid of him a few years ago and defensively all over the shop and they seem like a load of strangers.”
