Romeo Beckham wins first trophy with Brentford but David and Cruz miss it to watch Champions League semi-final

ROMEO BECKHAM has won his first trophy with Brentford, but father David and brother Cruz missed it to watch the Champions League semi-final.

The duo were in the stands at the Santiago Bernabeu to watch Real Madrid draw 1-1 to Manchester City in the first leg.

Meanwhile, Romeo was busy lifting the Premier League Cup with Brentford B.

Fortunately, his dad didn’t miss too much as the 20-year-old was an unused substitute in the 2-1 final victory over Blackburn.

Ryan Trevitt and Nathan Young-Coombes scored the goals with first-team star Kristoffer Ajer starting at centre-back.

After the game, Romeo received his winners medal and posed with his team-mates as they lifted the trophy.

But this is not the first time the youngster has not featured in a match, previously failing to come off the bench while David was in attendance.

Despite this, Brentford are reportedly keen to extend his stay beyond this season.

He is currently on loan from the Inter Miami youth system, the MLS club Becks owns.

Bees chiefs have insisted the signing of Romeo is far from a marketing move and he has impressed coaches in West London.

Director of football Phil Giles told The High Performance Podcast: “It wasn’t a PR stunt in any way.

“The thought that went into Romeo is that we have relationships in football, he was looking for places to train in England as he’s an Inter Miami player.

“Had he come in and been like, ‘I’m a Beckham,’ that would have been a disaster for us. The character has to be correct.

“He’s a humble guy, good work ethic, good mindset, wants to work extra hours on the training ground and sometimes has to be held back from that.”
