ROBERTO FIRMINO is being lined up for a Saudi Arabia transfer in a move that would see him linked up with an ex-Chelsea star.

The Brazilian forward is set to become a free agent when his Liverpool contract expires on Friday.

Firmino had been linked with a host of European clubs after his Anfield exit was confirmed.

However, the likes of Barcelona, Napoli and Real Madrid now look set to miss out, with Firmino linked with a move away from Europe.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Saudi club Al-Ahli are in talks to sign the 31-year-old, with negotiations ongoing.

The player has yet to make a decision on the move, but Al-Ahli are said to be preparing a medical in the hope they will be given the green light this week.

Foot Mercato add that the deal is edging closer to completion as talks reach an advanced stage.

According to their report, only a few small details are still to be finalised before the transfer can be announced.

Firmino would become the latest in a growing list of players to move to the Saudi Pro League.

N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema have already joined champions Al-Ittihad, whilst Al-Hilal have signed both Ruben Neves and Kalidou Koulibaly.

As for Al-Ahli, they are also on the verge of signing Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Mendy now looks set to be joined by Firmino at his new club as the pair edge closer to moves to the Middle East.

Firmino was given an emotional send-off at Anfield last month following his final Liverpool home game.

He scored a dramatic late equaliser against Aston Villa before scoring again against Southampton on the final day.

Across eight years on Merseyside, Firmino scored 111 goals in 362 Liverpool appearances.

The seven major trophies he won with the club include a league title, Champions League and the Club World Cup.
