Rival fans beg Man Utd to give Weghorst lifetime contract after awful gaffe during Sevilla draw

FANS of Manchester United’s Prem rivals want Wout Weghorst to ink a “lifetime contract” following his underwhelming display against Sevilla.

The Dutchman – who is on loan from Burnley – came on as a sub in the first leg of United’s Europa League quarter-final tie with Sevilla on Thursday.

Weghorst’s woes in front of goal continued as he failed to find the back of the net in the 2-2 draw at the Theatre of Dreams.

The Netherlands international’s decision-making was also in question when he failed to square the ball to Anthony Elanga to make it 3-0 and kill off the game.

And footy fans couldn’t help but lambast the striker, with one Chelsea supporter saying: “I love Weghorst.”

Another sarcastically said: “Weghorst is such a good player. I think he should be given a chance.”

And another footy fan said: “Only win in this man’s career is that brace vs Argentina I think.”

A Cristiano Ronaldo fan remarked: “And [Erik] Ten Hag called him as Ronaldo’s replacement .”

Another chimed in: “Would love him to sign a lifetime contract with Man Utd what a player he is.”

United legend Paul Scholes also tore into Weghorst, saying: “I think he should turn and shoot.

“When you look back at who’s on the edge of the box, [Tyrell] Malacia, I don’t think he’s somebody you think is going to score.

“I think a proper centre-forward, a centre-forward with real quality [shoots].

“If that’s a Martial, he’s either back-heeling it and trying to score or he turns quickly and gets his shot off quickly and scores.

“He’s five or six yards out!”

Weghorst and his United team-mates will be back in action on Sunday afternoon, travelling to the City Ground to take on relegation battlers Nottingham Forest.
