Richarlison offered shock escape route from Tottenham misery as Saudis line up transfer after missing out on Mo Salah

RICHARLISON was reportedly offered an escape from his Tottenham hell by Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad.

The 26-year-old has struggled since joining Spurs in a £60million transfer from Everton in summer 2022.

And despite the departure of Harry Kane from north London to Bayern Munich, Richarlison seems to have lost his spot in the team after just four Premier League games.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou appears to have decided to play winger Son Heung-Min through the middle instead.

Richarlison was dropped out of the starting xi for the match against Burnley after failing to score three games in a row, with Son netting a hat-trick against the Clarets in his first game in the role.

However, it has now been revealed he was offered an escape route to the Al-Ittihad after Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah stayed put at Anfield despite mega offers being submitted to get a deal done.

The Saudi club’s transfer chiefs identified Richarlison as their second choice once it became clear a transfer for Salah would prove difficult, according to The Telegraph.

The report adds that a deal ahead of the Saudi transfer deadline had been discussed through intermediaries.

But the deal ran out of time before the 10pm deadline on Thursday.

Richarlison has a market value of £48m, as per transfermarkt, with four years left on his contract.

Al-Ittihad are reportedly likely to go back in for Salah in January, with former team-mates Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho completing moves to the Saudi Pro League over the summer.

And it stands to reason that should Egyptian king Salah prove difficult to land once again, interest in Richarlison could reignite.

Brazil ace Neymar, who became the countries all-time leading goalscorer in the 5-1 win – has headed to Al-Hilal after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
