The Real Madrid No1 underwent more medical tests on Monday morning and is expected to miss Los Blancos’ Club World Cup Campaign which gets underway on Wednesday against Egyptian side Al Ahly.
The Belgian shot-stopper is hoping to be fit for the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against Liverpool at Anfield on February 21st.
With only 15 days until that game it isn’t a long time to recover if Courtois has suffered a small tear.
Real Madrid will have their fingers crossed that it isn’t too serious as they already have major fitness doubt over Karim Benzema and Eder Militao.
This is the second injury of the season for Courtois who has been ever present in the Real Madrid goal.
Earlier in the season he missed six games and it looks like he is certainly missing the next three minimum.
