Ibrox scouts have watched the 25-year-old a number of times already this season, and again ran the rule over him as he kept a clean sheet against Coventry City at Deepdale on Tuesday night.
Gers are in the market for a new No 1 with veteran Allan McGregor expected to leave this summer when his contract ends.
Woodman fits the bill having already enjoyed two loan spells in Scotland with Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.
The keeper is one of the highest earners at Deepdale and the English Championship side are willing to cash in on him at the end of the season.
They have already made it clear to interested parties they will listen to offers.
But they will not let him go on the cheap, as he still has two years remaining on his deal.
Woodman joined Preston last summer after spending the previous eight years at Newcastle.
As a teenager, he was part of the England side that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.
Gers face stiff competition, though, with Leicester and Leeds among the interested clubs.
Meanwhile, James Sands, who joined Gers on an initial 18-month loan in January 2022, has returned to his parent club New York City with immediate effect.
Beale confirmed: “I’d like to thank James for his time at Rangers.
“I believe he’ll go on to have an excellent career.”
