Rangers new boy Todd Cantwell claims ‘truth will be revealed’ over Norwich City transfer with cryptic message

TODD CANTWELL has promised fans that they will soon know the ‘truth’ about his exit from Norwich City.

The 24-year-old left his boyhood club to join Rangers in January having not made a first team appearance since the start of November.

He’s made three appearances already under Michael Beale – grabbing his first assist with a cross to Malik Tillman at the weekend.

Cantwell’s fine start to life in Glasgow has some fans confused as to why he hadn’t featured in so long at Carrow Road.

He had been initially dropped under the now-sacked Dean Smith but continued to be regularly left out the squad when David Wagner took over just after new year.

Now taking to social media, Cantwell has hinted there could be more than meets the eye to his departure.

He wrote: “Just a quick statement. The leaving of my boyhood club may have seemed strange to some in terms of my words.

“The situation and the way I was treated will be revealed and my fans and fans of the club will know the truth.

“I’m so happy again and enjoying my football at the amazing Rangers.”

Cantwell moved north to become the first signing of the Beale-era on a long-term deal.

Along with the returning Ianis Hagi, the midfielder has been tipped by his Ibrox team mate Glen Kamara to make a difference their bid to catch Celtic at the top of the table.

Romanian international Hagi missed an entire year of action before returning against St Johnstone.

But Kamara is thrilled to have the duo ready and available as the season goes on, he said: “It was a big positive to have Ianis back and we are all happy to see him.

“With the kind of quality he’s got, we can’t wait to have him back playing.

“He’s a creative player and that’s something we have definitely missed in the midfield. Hopefully he can add some goals for us.”

He added: “I thought Todd was good. He played well.

“It’s all new for him, coming to a new team and he was excellent despite not training much with us.

“It’s a massive jump coming here. I’m not too sure what the crowds are like in Norwich, but he’ll realise very soon that there are big expectations here.

“We’ve got to win every game, hopefully he’ll get used to that.”
