Range Rover used by Queen Elizabeth to meet Obamas on sale for eye-watering sum… and comes with hidden warning & TVs

A RANGE Rover used by Queen Elizabeth and the Obamas has gone up for sale – boasting covert lighting and TVs.

The pristine motor covered less than 3,000 miles over two years of dedicated royal service.

It’s even possible that the Queen may have worked on it herself, having trained as a mechanic during the Second World War.

The car was registered in 2016 and snapped up by the late monarch’s husband Prince Philip, before being sold back through the Land Rover dealership network.

It has now come up for sale again over five years later, still with just 18,000 miles on the clock.

Perhaps its most famous appearance came in April 2016, when it was driven by the then Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by the Queen, to meet Barack and Michelle Obama as they stepped off Marine One, the presidential helicopter, in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The car would have previously been equipped with a hidden police siren and covert emergency lighting, as well as side steps and grab handles to help Her Majesty hop in and out with ease.

These were, however, removed once it left the Royal Household, though a warning sticker remains in the engine bay as a nod to its old life.

And in the opposite direction, the rear entertainment screens that were removed when the car was bought by the royals have since been reinstalled.

The vehicle is now up for sale at a whopping £224,850 through Bramley Auctioneers.

Its listing states: “Bramley are once again delighted to be able to offer for sale an ex-Royal Household car with a fabulous history,” states the listing.

“It was prepared by the Land Rover Workshop at Gaydon and would have been equipped with covert lighting and police emergency lighting, along with specially adapted fixed side steps – which are not available for general sale as they have not been homologated and additional grab handles to the rear passenger compartment to enable Her Majesty The Queen to be able to access the rear passenger compartment more comfortably.

“These items have since been removed following the vehicle being taken out of Royal Service, but the grab handles used by Her Majesty were left with the car, a lovely touch.

“This particular example covered a very low mileage and had covered only 2,586 miles when it was sold through the Land Rover Dealer Network under the Land Rover Approved scheme.

“This vehicle made a very high-profile appearance during President Obama’s state visit to the United Kingdom in 2016.

“Land Rovers and Range Rovers that have seen service with the Royal Household normally always have the vehicle registration numbers changed once out of service, this is so that the vehicle’s prior use can never be confirmed, however, this example still retains its original registration number, that being OU16 XVH, making it a unique opportunity to acquire a Range Rover with undisputed Royal and Presidential provenance.”

The same Range Rover was previously sold in 2019 and has added nearly £100,000 to its value since then.

It comes after a set of micro-cars loved by Elvis Presley went up for sale for a huge sum.
