The footage shows an object thrown towards the players striking the leg of Palmer after he had slotted away his spot kick.
But it also appears to show Sterling then sending the object back where it came from which was a section of the crowd full of Spurs supporters.
The Daily Mail have reported that the FA are aware of the incident and are investigating it to see if any further action needs to be taken.
Nothing was spotted by officials on the day, but Sterling could still face a punishment if he is deemed to have broken any rules.
Spurs striker Richarlison was previously banned for one match during his Everton days for throwing a lit flare towards the stands.
The Brazilian was fined £25,000 for his actions and Sterling could possibly suffer the same fate if the FA discover any wrongdoing.
There has also been bans for the likes of Didier Drogba and Jamie Carragher in the past for throwing coins into the stands during games.
