With a place in the Champions League group stage at stake, tensions were clearly high.

Rangers took the lead on 45 minutes when Abdallah Sima finished into the top corner.

Such was De Jong’s fury at the concession, that TNT Sports touchline reporter Emma Dodds claimed on air that he had “kicked a door off its hinges” in the tunnel as he went in for the break.

Pundit and former Gers striker Kenny Miller subsequently joked that the Dutch forward should be made to foot the bill.

PSV equalised just after the hour mark when Ibrahim Sangare struck on 61 minutes.

Rangers then regained the lead on 76 minutes, Rabbi Matondo finishing off a sweeping counter attack.

Michael Beale‘s side were back in front for just four minutes, with De Jong having the final say.

The former Newcastle and Barcelona star rose highest at a corner ten minutes from time, nodding past Rangers keeper Jack Butland.
