Popular motor brand creates first ever ‘gamer van’ as vehicle is completely transformed – but there’s a drawback

FORD has launched a first ever gaming van by completely transforming a vehicle – but it comes with one downside.

The special edition Ford Transit Trail van is designed for the ultimate experience with a custom-built couch and external gaming stations.

The car-making giant boasts it offers “all of the gaming and streaming you could ever need”, yet there are already complaints.

The equipment includes a gaming PC on a front desk as well as Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series consoles towards the back.

There are also multiple sets of headphones and controllers, according to Car And Driver magazine.

These features appeared to be prioritised ahead of traditional features such as bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchen facilities.

Motor experts suggested it otherwise runs like other Transit Trail builds, with lifted suspension, all-wheel drive and all-terrain tyres.

It also has a 3.5-litre V-6 engine, offering 310 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.

But people have pointed out a problem – the van seems too heavy,

Car And Driver’s reviewer highlighted how Ford’s existing Transit could cover 60 mph in 6.8 seconds.

Yet they warned about this new model: “Throw in all the extra weight from the upfit and that acceleration time is expected to be slower.”

Drawbacks have also been found this month with Ford’s bestselling Transit Custom van.

The firm recently slashed the cost of one of its popular electric vehicle models by £7,000, amid a plunge in value among EVs.

Rival firm Vauxhall has just seen an EV product plummet in price following a slump in demand.

Yet Ford Transit vans are said to have soared in value lately.
