Pokémon Go’s Elite Raids left fans disappointed as event is plagued by endless issues

LAST weekend’s Regidrago Elite Raids was the first time the Dragon-type legendary Regidrago was introduced into Pokémon Go.

On March 11, there were supposed to be three chances for trainers to catch Regidrago.

However, due to high traffic at the time of the rare event, many players couldn’t even log in to their accounts.

Many players also reported issues when joining the raids, or entering a raid after the timer had ended.

Some players were given the rewards for completing the raid, but weren’t able to actually catch the Regidrago.

Catching the rare Pokémon is the main reason to join in these events making this exceptionally disappointing.

Freezing and crashing was also widespread as the servers struggled to deal with the number of players.

The issues were found all over the world, with reports from the US and Europe describing similar issues.

Fans were even more angry when Niantic flagged the issues as “resolved” on the game’s help page.

Players also complained about the number of Elite Raids that were available.

The majority of raids appeared at 11am, and there were far fewer at 2pm. Worst of all, almost no raids were available in the 5pm slot.

A player from London wrote: “I went to one of London’s big parks for the 11am raids, there were over 10 hatching at that time in every EX gym.

“Because they all hatched at 11am, despite there being enough players in the area, everyone was spread out across all the gyms.

“I’d scout a gym with a lobby of 1-2 players, but by time you’d get there, people moved to try another gym.

“I think everyone spent the full 30 mins trying to find a gym with enough other players, but since there’s no way to coordinate in the app nobody was able to do a raid.”

A player from the US said: “I live in NYC and hoped to catch another raid later in the day. I only saw a single 2pm raid and no 5pm raids.

“Keep in mind I’ve been moving throughout Manhattan throughout the day, keeping an eye open for potential eggs to raid.

“If it’s this bad in the biggest metropolitan city, my heart goes out to the rural players out there.”

Niantic has often claimed it wants players to meet up in person to play, but so far its major social events have been disastrous.
