Piers Morgan reveals ‘the best signing since Dennis Bergkamp’ as diehard Arsenal fan praises ‘difference maker’

PIERS MORGAN has praised Mikel Arteta for securing the “best signing” at Arsenal since Dennis Bergkamp over 20 years ago.

The diehard Gunner singled out Declan Rice as a “difference” maker in Arteta’s squad following his £100million arrival last summer from West Ham.

Arsenal are set to take on Sheffield United on Monday night at Bramall Lane but face a little bit of pressure after fellow title contenders Man City and Liverpool both won this weekend.

But in theory, the Gunners with their outstanding players should wipe the floor with Chris Wilder‘s side.

One superstar in particular has been Rice who has excelled since his move across the capital in July.

And speaking on talkSPORT on Monday about his beloved Arsenal, Piers Morgan claimed that Rice is the best signing Arsenal have made since they signed legend Dennis Bergkamp.

Morgan said: “If you ask me above all else what has been the difference – Declan Rice.

“I think Declan Rice has been the best signing Arsenal have made since Dennis Bergkamp back in the mid 90’s.”

Dutch icon Bergkamp joined Arsenal in 1995 helping the club to win three Premier League titles, four FA Cup trophies, and reach the 2006 Champions League Final.

And Rice could be on track to do the same at Arsenal after he captained the Hammers to their first major European trophy since 1965.

With only Bobby Moore and Billy Bonds being able to do the same Piers may be right about Rice who has only improved since his move.

Winning the Comunity Shield on his debut game for the Gunners the midfielder has been instrumental for Arteta’s side this term.

In his 36 appearances, Rice has taken the squad to another level and has scored four goals and made five assists this term.

The England international was also recently nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Player based on his performance for both London clubs and the national team.

A Premier League and Champions League title is very much in sight for Arsenal as Rice hopes to recoup another piece of silverware this term.
