The video has had 418,000 views and hundreds of comments on TikTok
TikTok user @drivingtestips uploaded a video that shows his car stopping in a yellow box junction.
When the car entered the yellow box junction, the exit appeared to be clear.
However, he was forced to stop his car because another vehicle entered the yellow box and abruptly changed lanes.
And the driver stopped in front of the TikTok user’s car.
So he had to stay at the yellow box junction for ten seconds until the other car moved forward.
The user asked on TikTok: “Would I get fined?
“What would you have done?”
Users were divided on TikTok.
One said: “You will still get fined – you need to make sure its clear 100%.
Another said: ” If you get fined… send them the video, proving it was not your fault.”
A third pointed out: “Just show the video. Your exit was clear when you went in.”
Other users commented that it happened the same to them and had to pay a fine.
One said: “The same thing happened to make, and I got a fine a few days later. I appealed it, and it was rejected.”
Another said: “The same thing happened to me about a week ago, and I’ve now got a fine.”
The Highway Code says: “You must not enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear.
It also clarifies that “at signalled roundabouts, you must not enter the box unless you can cross over it completely without stopping.”
“However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic or by other vehicles waiting to turn right.”
And drivers issued with a penalty charge notice (PCN) can be fined up to £130 for misusing the yellow box.
Although this may be halved (£65) if the fine is paid within a fortnight.
