The two friends booked return flights from the UK to Poland for £30 and spent a mere £5 on their accommodation for the evening.
Darena told Caters News Agency: “We started doing this as an alternative to a birthday present each year and would book a mystery trip for each other to the cheapest destination.
“When we get to the location, we make sure to do the hostel bar crawl and then go for food, get drunk, and have a good time in the process.
“Going abroad is so much cheaper and so much more fun than a night out in the UK – the people are nicer, drinks are cheaper, and most of the time the weather is better.”
In addition to the cost of flights and accommodation, the pair also spent £35 each on food and drink.
The two friends have now visited three countries on their 24-hour trips, and plan to add more to their list.
Their short holidays began three years ago when they decided to make their birthday celebrations more exciting.
Darena added: “To pick the locations, we type the dates into Skyscanner and book the cheapest most ‘fun looking’ place.
“My advice would be for people who want to try these trips to always look on Skyscanner and don’t be afraid of staying in hostels.
“You meet the coolest people in them, and it’s the cheapest way of travelling.”
While it may seem unusual, this isn’t the first time Brit holidaymakers have flown to a European city for a day trip.
Earlier this year, three sisters flew to Dublin for a night out because it was cheaper than a taxi ride home in London.

The sisters booked return flights from Leeds Bradford Airport to Dublin with Ryanair at a cost of £25.
They arrived at Temple Bar in Dublin at 10.30pm where they drank the night away before heading back to the morning at 4.00am.
And TikTok user Callum Ryan flew to Spain for a pint for less than a crate of beer at a supermarket in the UK.
After he spotted a box of 12 Estrella for £15 in Sainsbury’s, he wondered if he could get a sunnier drink for less.
Meanwhile, this couple booked a day trip to Barcelona and barely spent any money.
