‘One off’ Ford Capri that’s ‘professionally built to rally’ with a full harness up for sale – it’s an understated beast

A one off Ford Capri, custom built for rallying dubbed an “understated beast” by its owner, has gone up for sale.

The motor features a specially-made harness, custom dashboard and modified gearbox borrowed from a Ford Cosworth.

It was custom-built 10 years ago to 1969 specswww.carandclassic.com

The model is a 1969 V8 Capri, boasting 300 horsepower and a unique history.

Its listing on Car & Classic reads: “This car was professionally built around 10 years ago to a specific commissioned criteria to create a bespoke rally-track and road car of substance.

“This is the one and the only one.

“This is in essence an opportunity to acquire a truly unique classic rally-track-road car, the value of which only has one way to go – up.”

The Capri is advertised for just £45,000, which is a bargain when you consider that, given its status as a “historic” vehicle, it is tax, MOT and ULEZ exempt.

DVSA files show that its MOT ran out on December 26 but that its most recent test on December 27 last year resulted in a pass with no advisories.

On the outside, the paintwork is a deep blue with patches of mustard yellow, while the retro alloys, separated bumper and vintage headlights all add to its classic appeal.

Best of all, there are just 3,350 miles on the clock, acquired over the past 54 years.

However, you may have to go quite a way to get hold of it as the owner is selling it from Glasgow, Scotland.

The ad does state, though, that they are happy to arrange UK mainland delivery for an agreed cost paid in full beforehand.

It comes after a “one of a kind” Porsche 928GT with some unusual features hit auction this week.

Meanwhile, one history buff revealed how he spent £30,000 restoring the hearse that carried Winston Churchill’s body in 1965.
