On-loan Arsenal star forced off injured after suffering horror show away at Man City

NUNO TAVARES was forced off injured after a nightmare first half for Nottingham Forest against Manchester City.

The Arsenal loanee, 23, failed to defend either of the champions’ opening two goals as he was all at sea at left-back inside the opening 14 minutes.

Tavares then received a booking in the 21st minute for a cynical challenge on Jeremy Doku.

He also produced a rather comical piece of skill which resulted in Man City robbing the ball from him.

And six minutes before the break he was then replaced Gonzalo Montiel due to an injury.

It was Tavares’ first start for Forest since joining from Arsenal.

He came off the bench in the win over Chelsea and draw with Burnley.

But Forest boss Steve Cooper may now think twice before picking him in future games after a shocking display.

Tavares spent last season on loan at Marseille after the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko saw him fall down the pecking order in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Kieran Tierney’s loan departure to Real Sociedad had the potential to open the door for Tavares’ return to the Arsenal squad.

But both Jakub Kiwior and Takehiro Tomiyasu were preferred understudies to Zinchenko during pre-season.

And that sought Tavares to find game time elsewhere as he joined Forest at the end of the summer transfer window.
