FANS are crying they have “nothing left” as a football club shop launches a closing down sale.
The ex-Premier League club announced it was shutting the store in September, with doors closing for a final time on March 6.
The store inside the Potteries Shopping Centre is closing
Now all a number of items are being reduced to less than £5 as part of a clearance sale before the store’s closure date next month, StokeonTrentLive reports.
Stoke City said the club’s store in the Potteries Centre is closing for “commercial reasons”.
It comes 18 years after the store first opened in 2006, but is the latest to leave the shopping centre along with Poundland, Superdry and Debenhams in recent years.
The club shop at Stoke’s bet365 Stadium will remain open, while fans can also continue to buy merchandise online.
Speaking in September, chief operating officer Simon King said: “The vast majority of our retail trade already takes place at the bet365 Stadium and online,.
“It makes commercial sense to put our complete focus on those outlets moving forward, albeit with flexibility for temporary pop-up ventures where there is a coherent case to do so in future.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to those who prefer to shop for their Stoke City merchandise within the city centre store, and hope that the combination of the stadium store and retail website will ensure that nobody needs to be excluded.”
It comes as Stoke appointed former Plymouth Argyle boss Steven Schumacher as the club’s new manager last month.
Meanwhile, a former Premier League star woke up unemployed after his Stoke contract was ripped up this week.
Dwight Gayle is understood to have terminated his contract with The Potters.
