Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts are enjoying a big night out. The couple graced the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Jan. 10, Nash looking radiant in a purple gown and Betts beaming in an all-black tux.
Nash is nominated for best supporting actress in a limited series or anthology for her role as Glenda Cleveland on Netflix’s “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” Her possible win would make her the first Black woman to win a Golden Globe for work on a limited series, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Nash and Betts, a musician, met in 2015 and were friends for years before falling in love. The pair went on to tie the knot in August 2020. “I loved her before I was in love with her because she is such a special human being,” Nash told People of their transition from friends to lovers at the time. “But we began to see each other in a way we never had before. Sometimes you get so broken by love, you run from it. But I’ve learned that you should always hold space for magic because it can happen at any time.”
More recently, Nash shared how Betts helped her through the challenging process of filming “Dahmer.” “People ask, how did I make it thru filming Dahmer?” she wrote in an October 2022 TikTok. “My love JB [Betts] was my rock. I was also filming Reno at the same time, my daughter Dia is funny and was a bright light who brought me joy on set & my girl Cardi B!” She later reshared the video on Instagram. “Dahmer was my most challenging job to date,” she wrote in the caption. “Had to lean into my joy HARD during the filming process.”
