Fortunately, the striker was soon back on his feet and running around.

Toon fans could not help but draw comparisons to Isak with club legend Alan Shearer.

Match of the Day pundit Shearer was forced to wear a bandage during a 2003 clash against Aston Villa.

Shearer, 53, was left in a bloody mess after a collision with Gareth Barry just 11 minutes into the game.

And it was not the only time he was forced to channel his inner Terry Butcher, with another match when he donned the headband seeing him put Sunderland to the sword in 2002.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan said: “Isak bringing the Shearer vibes.”

A second commented: “Isak got the prime Shearer look. It’s officially over for PSG.”

A third wrote: “Not the first striker to be bandaged up. #Sheareresque.”

Isak, 24, almost opened the scoring for Newcastle but saw his effort saved, only for Miguel Almiron to slot home with a composed finish.

The Swedish forward had five goals in eight games before the PSG clash.
