Newcastle outcast eyed for shock transfer to Serie A months after he was banished to U21s by boss Eddie Howe

A NEWCASTLE outcast could be on his way out of the club in a shock move to Serie A according to reports.

Ryan Fraser may have been handed a career lifeline months after he was banished to play with the U21s by Eddie Howe.

According to the Mail Online, Fraser is attracting interest from Empoli as we hurtle towards the end of the transfer window.

The Scottish winger has fallen way down the pecking order at St James’ Park and is yet to make a match day squad this season.

He has struggled to get minutes under Howe and only made eight Premier League appearances last term.

He also spent a period of time shunned to the U21s with Howe stating he only wanted players who are “committed to Newcastle”.

Fraser joined the Magpies on a free transfer from Bournemouth back in 2020 and has made 59 appearances for the club since.

Despite managing 24 goals and 33 assists in that time Howe has preferred to start the likes of Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy instead.

Newer arrivals like Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes mean Fraser would had an even higher mountain to climb if he was to stay and fight for a place in the team this season.

Newcastle have seen a number of new players come through the doors this summer as they gear up for their return to the Champions League.

Sandro Tonali, Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall will all don the famous black and white on Tyneside this season.

But latest signing Hall could be their last new addition with Howe suggesting the full-back will be his final singing of the summer.
