NEWCASTLE UNITED’S owners have allegedly launched plans to make St. James’ Park the second biggest stadium in the Premier League.
Eddie Howe’s side are still riding high after they thrashed Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 in their first Champions League home match for two decades on Wednesday.

St. James’ Park was rocking after Miguel Almiron and Dan Burn had given Newcastle a two-goal lead before the break.
Then Geordie midfielder Sean Longstaff, 25, rifled home the third after the restart.
Lucas Hernandez pulled one back for PSG but Fabian Schar rounded-off a fairytale evening in the North East but firing him the fourth late on to send the raucous crowd into frenzy.
Now The Telegraph are reporting that Newcastle’s Saudi ownership want even more supporters to be able to pack into the ground.
They state that they “plan to expand St. James’ Park’s capacity to 65,000” – a huge increase of 13,000.
It adds that they have “already begun a feasibility study on how to develop the Gallowgate End and East Stand” at their iconic home.
And they want to bring both up to the same level of the Leazes and Jackie Milburn stands.
If the proposals do get the green light then that would make the stadium the second-largest in the Premier League behind Manchester United’s 74,031-capacity Old Trafford.

And it would also be the third-biggest in the country, with the 90,000-seater Wembley Stadium top.
Spurs’ Tottenham Stadium is currently second in the top-flight with a capacity of 62,850.
However, there are still a few hurdles to overcome before the ambitious plans can proceed as Toon chiefs wait to hear back from architects over what is possible.
Building on the land outside of the stadium could present some issues as the East Stand has listed buildings directly behind it.
The club did recently purchase the land behind the Gallowgate End and are assembling a new fan zone that is due to open next year there.
And this report claims that chiefs would prefer to develop the East Stand first due to those plans.
