But they dropped their pursuit after signing Moises Caicedo for a Premier League record £115million.

And they have also agreed a £50m move for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, who like Caicedo rejected Liverpool for West London.

Now according to Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth have followed Chelsea in triggering Adams’ release clause.

It is claimed the Cherries are optimistic a deal gets done with the player keen on the move at this stage.

Adams has also been linked with BrightonAston Villa and Manchester United among others.

The USA international’s release clause kicked in due to Leeds’ relegation to the Championship.

Adams completed his move to Leeds from RB Leipzig just last season and made 26 appearances for the club.

Liverpool are also believed to be weighing up a move after seeing both Caicedo and Lavia favour Chelsea.
