New Birmingham owner Tom Brady stuns locals as NFL legend strolls into pub near St Andrew’s as fans call it ‘surreal’

NFL LEGEND Tom Brady was serenaded by shocked fans as he popped in the local for a pre-match drink ahead of Birmingham City’s clash with Leeds United.

Supporters reacted in disbelief when the superstar confirmed he had switched football codes to become a joint owner of the Blues.

The record seven-time Super Bowl winner, who is said to be worth £400m, is following Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who took over Wrexham, by investing in a football team.

Brady, who has recently been rumoured to be dating Kim Kardashian, entered into a partnership with Birmingham’s new owners, Knighthead Capital Management LLC, and has already begun working directly with the Championship side’s board.

The 46-year-old missed Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with Swansea on the opening day and the midweek 2-0 win over Cheltenham in the Carabao Cup.

But he has now jetted in to watch Brum in action for the very first time this afternoon to see them play Leeds.

But he popped into a local pub to stun fans before heading to St Andrew’s to soak up the pre-match atmosphere, and he appeared to be loving every second of it as his new faithful sang to him.

He had earlier taken to Twitter to post a photo of himself on a plane and wrote: “Any plans before kick off guys? See you at St. Andrew’s.”

That led to the club’s official account replying: “See you soon, Tom!”

Now it appears that Brady did find plans as footage went viral online of him being surrounded by Blues fans, who proceeded to sing to him, ahead of the game inside a boozer.

And his visit left supporters stunned, with one tweeting: “This is surreal.”

Another wrote: “Surreal and hilarious in equal measure.”

A fellow footy fan commented: “Tom Brady is in a local pub in Birmingham before #bcfc’s game with Leeds today! Just a completely surreal EFL story all round.”

While another tweet read: “Nothing to see here. Just Tom Brady in a pub in Birmingham.

“Love seeing him connect with the locals after confirming his co-ownership in the club.”

Brady, who recently divorced supermodel Gisele Bundchen, is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

He won the Super Bowl seven times in a glittering 23-year career before retiring earlier this year.

Brady, who also recently sparked rumours of a romance with Irina Shayk after being spotted packing on the PDA in Los Angeles, earned £260m in salary through his 23 seasons as a player, plus another £140m in sponsorships and endorsements.

And he stands to earn £295m in a 10-year deal with FOX Sports.

Brady, who has two children, Benjamin and Vivian, with Bundchen and shares eldest son Jack with actress Bridget Moynahan, has predicted that he will bring success to Birmingham.

He said at his unveiling: “Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion and to be part of the Blues is a real honour for me.

“I’ve been part of some amazing teams in my day, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham.”
