ARSENAL are preparing a second world record bid for Mary Earps, according to reports.

Manchester United turned down a huge opening offer for the goalkeeper last week.

Reports at the time stated that the proposal was from an ‘unnamed’ club, although football reporter Alex Ibaceta now claims Arsenal were behind it.

According to Ibaceta and DAZN, the Gunners are now preparing another world record offer for Earps, who has less than one year remaining on her current United contract.

The current record transfer fee for a goalkeeper stands at £100,000 following Kailen Sheridan’s move from Gotham FC to San Diego Wave in the National Women’s Soccer League.

However, Arsenal are preparing a “significantly higher” offer.

Earps, 30, joined Man Utd from Wolfsburg in 2019 and has since established herself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and England’s No.1.

She played an integral role in the Lionesses’ European Championship triumph last summer and was crowned as the best women’s goalkeeper in the world by Fifa as a result.

The Nottingham-born star also claimed the Golden Glove award at the Women’s World Cup earlier this month after helping England to the final.

Should she join Arsenal before deadline day, Earps will become the second player to swap the Red Devils for the Gunners this summer.

England striker Alessia Russo joined Jonas Eidevall’s side in a free transfer last month.

Arsenal tabled two world-record bids for the 24-year-old in January, both of which were pushed back by Man Utd.

However, the Red Devils failed to negotiate a new contract with the striker so she left the club for free at the end of the 2022-23 Women’s Super League campaign.
