Mykhailo Mudryk hailed as ‘an enormous talent’ by Mauricio Pochettino despite Chelsea star’s miserable spell continuing

MAURICIO POCHETTINO insists Mykhalio Mudryk will realise his potential at Chelsea despite having an underwhelming start.

The 22-year-old has so far had a miserable spell for the Blues after signing for £89million back in January.

Chelsea beat Arsenal to sign the winger from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.

But he is yet to get a goal for the club and has only tasted victory just three times since moving.

Mudryk has come off the bench in the opening two Premier League games of the season.

His hefty price tag invites a higher level of scrutiny but the Chelsea boss remains keen on the youngster.

Pochettino told the Evening Standard: “He’s a young player and a player that has a lot of talent.

“I think he needs to build his continuity and trust with his team-mates.

“Work hard in the training sessions during the week and continue to show he is ready to perform.

“We need to also build that trust with him and he needs to build it with us as part of the team.

“As is the same with many of our younger players.

“It will take a little time but there is no doubting he has enormous talent and quality and it’s only a matter of time before he settles into the team on a regular basis.”

The Argentine made a name for himself for improving young players at Tottenham and will need to do the same for a Chelsea squad packed with promising talent.

After a disappointing 3-1 defeat against London rivals West Ham on Sunday, the Blues will be looking for a first league win under Pochettino against Luton on Friday.
