Most holidaymakers will know that family holidays are cheaper during the term time, but Hannah has revealed other added benefits to trips during school hours.

In a video she posted on her TikTok channel adventuresofthewests she said: “For us, skiing during term time is the only way we can afford to take our kids skiing.”

“The price difference of skiing during term time compared to during the school holidays is crazy – it really is thousands of pounds.

“It’s such a wonderful family holiday and a skill that we really want our children to be able to have.

“And we really believe that what they’re getting from a week’s skiing is much more than what they’re going to be getting from a week at school.

“Our children work hard at school, they work hard out of school and their attendance is really high so we certainly aren’t suggesting that they’d just miss school for anything at all.

“We really truly believe that sometimes adventures are just more important.”

The video has been watched more than 12,000 times and liked by 700 people with users heading into the comments to voice their own opinions.

One wrote: “We’ve done that every year while our daughter was in primary, it’s such a great experience for her.”

Another added: “There are far more upsides than downsides to a week of skiing, and being exposed to different languages too.”

While a third said: “My parents would do the same for me and my sister.

Learning to ski is such a valuable skill to have and those memories last a lifetime!”

Hannah isn’t the only parent who sees the positives of taking their child out during term time.

Faith Skeen from South Texas, takes her two children Chris, 15, and Zach, 11, out of school to go on holiday, attend music concerts and visit her relatives.

She told the Sun Online Travel: “I don’t believe unwavering attendance is what’s best for children throughout their young lives, and I don’t think the school system should have such extensive reach into our homes.”

Clinical psychologist Carla Marie Manly has argued that taking kids abroad outside of the school holidays offers a better experience.
